How to enable or disable Milestones

Go to your HeyTaco admin dashboard, navigate to the Milestones tab, and toggle the feature on or off. You can choose to enable birthdays, work anniversaries, or both.

How to edit or update milestone messages

In the Milestones settings, you can either choose one of our already created messages, or customize the message templates for birthdays and work anniversaries. Save changes, and theyโ€™ll apply to future messages.

Select or edit Birthday message on the Admin --> Settings page.

Select or edit Work Anniversay message on the Admin --> Settings page.

How to customize milestone recognition by team or channel 

Admins can choose a specific Slack channel where Milestones messages are posted. You can create separate channels for birthdays and anniversaries if you prefer. Currently, milestone celebrations are sent to the same selected channel for everyone.

If you have a large team that sends lots of tacos and are worried about milestone tacos being too noisy, we recommend creating a separate Milestone Celebrations channel.

Change the Milestone celebration channel on the Admin --> Settings page.

How to manage birthdays and work anniversaries in profiles 


Admins can update any employeeโ€™s birthday and work anniversary dates on the Admin โ†’ Milestones page.

Select the person whose Milestone dates you'd like to edit.
Edit the person's Milestone date.

Users can add their birthdays and work anniversaries either in Slack (when the admin requests dates initially) or on their individual profile page.

Adding your birthday/start date in Slack:


HeyTaco will prompt users directly in Slack to add their Milestone dates.

Users can enter Milestone dates, celebration preferences as well as opt out directly in Slack.

Adding your birthday/start date on your Profile page:


Access your personal settings on the Profile --> Settings page.

Once a person has added their initial birthday/start date, any subsequent changes need to be made by the HeyTaco admin.
