How do I add HeyTaco to Slack?
Adding HeyTaco can take as little as a few minutes. Below is a photo tour of what you'll see when installing HeyTaco.
Step 1: Selecting the workspace to add HeyTaco! to
This screen is where you'll select the workspace you want to use HeyTaco in. After clicking the Allow button, HeyTaco will be added as an app to your workspace. This screen tells you what information we can see, collect, and modify. If you have questions about it, please check out our Privacy Policy.
Step 2: Select the channels you want to use Heytaco in
People see better results when they add HeyTaco to multiple channels because it makes it easier to give recognition when you don't have to remember what channels HeyTaco is a member of.
If you're nervous about introducing HeyTaco to your Slack, you can create a test channel to experiment in before you enter this setup.
Step 3: Send welcome messages to channels
If you select yes in the previous screenshot, HeyTaco will post a welcome message in your channels, letting people know who it is, what it does, and how it works. We always recommend sending that message so everyone knows what HeyTaco is.
If you decide to send a welcome message later, you can invoke it any time with this command: @HeyTaco welcome
Step 4: Deciding on Leaderboards
You have the option here to use leaderboards or not. You can adjust this at any time on your settings page. We recommend not using leaderboards for anything serious (i.e. financial rewards and performance evaluation). They're meant for fun!
Step 5: Give your first taco!
And voila! Your HeyTaco setup is all done. For best results, commit to giving your tacos away to different people every day and watch your Taco Economy grow.
